Pravin Kumar asked the students, who attended the residential camp here, to cultivate discipline, commitment, regularity and hard work from childhood itself through which one can easily reach his or her goal in life. He also urged the parents, teachers, school heads, coaches and sports associations to provide conducive atmosphere for academics and sports so that children can excel.

Stating that to promote sports concept among children, the state government has been conducting free residential coaching camps every year in both rural and urban areas, the Collector said. They are taking steps to ensure that all schools have playgrounds.

With the help of CSR funds of local PSUs like Steel Plant, an Integrated Sports Complex at Aganampudi and a mini-sports stadium at Kommadi are coming up.District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) June Gallyot said that intensive coaching was given in taekwando, boxing and football by international-level coaches in the residential summer coaching camp here in which 210 students from across the state participated.

She said they have provided free boarding and shelter to all the students. Later, the students displayed their skills in taekwando, boxing and football to the surprise of the Collector who later presented merit certificates to the candidates and coaches.

Dronacharya Awardee I Venkateswara Rao, Olympian M V Manikyalu, State Weight Lifting Association secretary Suryanarayana, Teakwando Association secretary Reddy and others were also present.
