Only three deaths due to sun stroke
A total of 24 deaths were reported during the last one-and-a-half months due to sunstroke in East Godavari district. Kakinada: A total of 24 deaths were reported during the last one-and-a-half months due to sunstroke in East Godavari district. However, a three-member committee in its report said that there were only three deaths on account of sunstroke.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, the administrative officer in the East Godavari Collectorate, Tajeswara Rao, while referring to the report of the committee comprising the concerned area PHC medical officer, Mandal Tahsildar and Police Station House Officer (SHO) said that only three out of the 24 deaths reported were confirmed as sunstroke deaths.
Rao said that if the families of the victims of sunstroke deaths have to get a compensation of Rs one lakh from the government, the three-member committee has to confirm that the deaths were due to sunstroke. The confirmation letter from the committee is mandatory, he added.
