Tirupati: With the health workers working in the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) going on a flash strike since Saturday, heaps of garbage remained not cleared found every in the pilgrim city. In many places, garbage was seen stern around the dustbin which was full to its brim on the road forcing people passing on the way close their nose to avoid the stink coming from the waste.

About 1,000 health workers including permanent and contract basis in the civic body went on a flash strike on Saturday demanding the MCT authorities to pay the (dress) stitching charges pending for about an year and also supply of cosmetics which is pending leading the clearance of garbage coming to a standstill in the city which generates about 190 tonnes garbage daily.

As all the 450 dustbins overflowing, the resident threw their household wastage near the dustbin on the road adding more on the filth and stink. Meanwhile, TMC Commissioner C Hari Kiran held talks with the leaders of the striking health workers, who agreed to end the strike and resume duty from Monday following his assurance to settle all their demands immediately.
