Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna demanded that the State government immediately take measures to protect the valuable government lands worth crores of rupees being occupied by land grabbers in Visakhapatnam district. He wrote a letter to the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in this regard on Monday.

He said the costly lands in the villages of Madhuravada, Kommadi, Paradesipalem under the Visakha rural mandal and lands in the villages of Chippada, Annavaram and other villages of Bheemunipatnam mandal were occupied by land mafia with tampered records.

He said lands worth thousands of crores of rupees were encroached in the district but the government machinery failed to check the land grabbing incidents and take back the costly lands.He said lands worth Rs 2,000 crore were encroached upon by land grabbers in Madhuravada and Kommadi villages. The CPI leader said records related to 186 acres land were tampered in Kommadi village.

He said the CPI launched agitation demanding that the government should protect the valuable lands but the government is yet to respond. Ramakrishna demanded that the government immediately take back the lands and use them for public purposes.
