Vijayawada: Gannavaram police booked a case on Gannavaram MLA and TDP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi on Monday in connection with the tearing of flexes belonging to Congress leaders on the national highway between Vijayawada and Gannavaram on Sunday.

It may be recalled that some Telugu Desam activists tore the flexes of Congress leaders at Kesarapalli and other villages between Vijayawada and Gannavaram when AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited Guntur to address a public meeting at Andhra Muslim college grounds in Guntur on Sunday. Some local Congress leaders lodged a complaint to Gannavaram police on Monday about the tearing of Congress party flexes and insulting the party leaders.

The Congress leaders including Congress Mahila wing state president Sunkara Padmasri and others alleged that the TDP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi has provoked the cadre to tear the Congress flexes. In response to the complaint, the police booked cases on Vallabhaneni Vamsi and other leaders under the sections of 143, 149,427 of IPC.
