Vijayawada: Congress criticised the government for water leakage in the Assembly and Secretariat buildings at Velagpudi. Rain water entering various chambers of Assembly was a strong proof of poor construction of the building, alleged the party. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, City Congress president Malladi Vishnu said the rain had exposed the defects in the construction of Assembly and Secretariat buildings. “We always said that the government is misleading the people on the construction of capital city,” he pointed out.

He also demanded a CBI enquiry into the land scam in Visakhapatnam PCC spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji said that the leakage in buildings is leading to doubts on the quality of prestigious Polavaram irrigation project. The state government had spent Rs 900 crore (Rs 10,000 per sq.mt) for the construction of Assembly and Secretariat buildings in a hasty manner, but ignored the quality in the construction, he pointed out. It is following the same strategy in the construction of Polavaram also.
