Eluru: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed District Collector K Bhaskar to take constructive decisions to put West Godavari district in first place in the country in crop yielding.After inspecting the Polavaram project works, the Chief Minister interacted with the MLAs and MPs and officials at the project site.

Speaking on the occasion, he asked the officials why not the farmers could reach the targets though they had been providing the basic infrastructure to them.In turn, the Collector said that West Godavari district bagged first place in the state in crop yielding. The Chief Minister said that West Godavari should be a role model to the country and should not satisfy with the first place in the state.

He questioned that though the government has been extending facilities, water, quality seeds, why the farmers are not financially stable. Comparing to other countries, the crop yielding is very low in the state, he said and directed the officials to take up the constructive decisions to make farmer financially viable by getting higher yielding with the lowest cost. He directed the officials to prepare the proposals in this regard.

Minister for Endowments Pydikondala Manikyala Rao said that the government was extending necessary support to the farmers and early crop system was implemented in the district by providing water in first week of June. MLAs Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Vetukuri Sivaramaraju, MP Thota Sitaramalakshmi, Arimilli Radhakrishna, Ganni Veeranjaneyulu, Modium Srinivasa Rao, Nimmala Ramanaidu were present.
