Balamrutham to be distributed from July 1
The state government will launch distribution of Balamrutham from July 1 and Anna Amruta Hastham scheme will be implemented across the state. Women and child welfare minister Paritala Sunitha revealed this while holding a review meeting with project directors of ICDS of the 13 districts at the Secretariat on Friday.

Later, speaking to media persons, Sunitha said the Balamrutham scheme, which was implemented in the united Andhra Pradesh, was not being implemented in the truncated state as the Balamrutham making unit is in Telangana state.
After successful parleys with the Telangana government, the scheme will again be implemented in the state from July 1, she said. Balamrutham is the weaning food prepared of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar, distributed in packets of 2.5 kg per child per month.
This is intended to provide supplementary nutrition to the children of between 7 months to 3 years.. The Balamrutham packets will be distributed through Anganwadi centres, where about 16 lakh children will be benefited, the minister said.
Regarding Anna Amrutha Hastham (AAH) scheme, which is presently implemented in ICDS projects, will henceforth be implemented across the state from July 1, Sunitha said. Under the scheme, nutritious food will be supplied to pregnant and lactating women with different menu for six days in a week, she explained.
The minister said that from July 1 onwards the wages of Anganwadi workers will be deposited in their bank accounts. The Anganwadi centres located in municipal areas will be converted as pre-schools, where the teaching will be conducted in English medium, she said. The government has taken up construction of 7,000 Anganwadi buildings across the state and 1,422 buildings have been completed, she added. The remaining buildings will be completed by August this year.
She warned of serious action against Anganwadi centres indulging in irregularities in distribution of eggs to the children. Later, Sunitha released kits for pre-school children, costing Rs 3,000 each, meant for free distribution. Women and child welfare secretary Aparna Upadhyayula and commissioner Arun Kumar were present.
