Wedding organisers avoid TTD Kalyana Mandapams

Chittoor: Many of the TTD Kalyana Mandapams are struggling for survival as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is said to be least interested in creating minimum facilities.
In order to perform the marriages at a reasonable cost, TTD lets out its Kalyana Mandapams to the people. As there are no minimum amenities for performing marriages, people are resorting to hiring private Kalyana Mandapams bearing huge financial burden.
Highlights:
- An average private Kalyana Mandapam’s hire charge is above Rs.50, 000 per day, whereas TTD offers its Kalyana Mandapam for a fraction of that price at Rs 6,000
- With not even minimum facilities, there are no takers for these marriage halls
- Shoe selling counters are also opened now and then in the premises of TTD Kalyana Mandapam
The TTD has come to an understanding to hire Kalyana Mandapams for all occasions other than marriages. Exhibitions, private functions, and official meetings use to take place in the Mandapams in general for meeting their maintenance charges.
The TTD Kalyana Mandapam, Chittoor is in no way an exception in the regard. The daily devotional programmes of TTD Dharmika Mandali have been cancelled here for organising private programmes. As a result, the purpose of constructing TTD Kalyana Mandapam at Chittoor is unserved and defeated.
It is rather deplorable that shoe selling counters are also opened now and then in the premises of TTD Kalyana Mandapam. The Sanskrita Kala Vedika (Auditorium) is also kept unused for the last six months due to cancelling of the devotional events of TTD Dharmika Prachara Mandali at Chittoor Kalyanamandapam.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Subhashini, Manager , TTD Kalyana Mandapam , Chittoor admitted that people were not opting to avail the facility of TTD Kalyana Mandapam for performing the marriages in a big way ‘ TTD collects Rs.6,000 per day towards rent for TTD Kalyana Mandapam for performing marriages.
The facilities are not up to the requirement of the public to conduct marriage in a grand manner. There are no vessels in TTD Kalyana Mandapam for cooking. Water shortage is another persistent problem. The TTD is contemplating to computerise all the Kalyana Mandapams” she added.
She said that she was leaving no stone unturned for creating awareness among the organisers of marriages to avail TTD Kalyana Mandapams which would certainly be helpful in saving huge funds for them. An average private Kalyana Mandapam’s hire charge is above Rs.50, 000 per day, whereas TTD offers its Kalyana Mandapam for a fraction of that price. She assured that she would take steps immediately for removing the chappal-selling counter in TTD Kalyana Mandapam.
