It was said that in total, 4,600 houses were to be constructed with a budget of Rs 432 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the mega Housing would be taken up in the 47 acres identified in Kakinada Port area.

Kakinada: Kakinada city MLA V Venkateswara Rao laid the foundation stone for Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing construction at Parlova Peta here on Monday. It was said that in total, 4,600 houses were to be constructed with a budget of Rs 432 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the mega Housing would be taken up in the 47 acres identified in Kakinada Port area.

Another 10 acres was also identified in city area for construction of this housing on large-scale, he said. The MLA on this occasion said that housing for another 5,600 people who have their own sites shall also be taken up in Kakinada city and suburbs.

Addressing the gathering, district collector Kartikeya Mishra said that in total 80,000 houses for BPL (Below Poverty Line) families would be constructed in East Godavari in next two years. East Godavari BJP unit president Y Malakondayya said that since 2014, the NDA government had been implementing various welfare schemes to the state. He hoped that this mega housing under PMAY would be more beneficial to the urban poor. Trainee collector Anand, municipal commissioner Alim Basha and others participated.
