Vijayawada: With the sight of new moon on Sunday, Muslims have made arrangements to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday. Hectic activity of Muslims was seen at Besant Road with a large number of them seen shopping. Braving strong winds followed by heavy rain in the evening, Muslims purchased different things including readymade clothes, veils, clothes for donation among the poor, footwear, dry fruits, ice creams and other paraphernalia to make Eid a memorable event.

The rush of Muslims is also seen at Panja Centre where the Eid would be celebrated on a grand manner. Women and children were seen purchasing ‘semiya’, wheat flour, dates, fruits and other things.

Mosques in the city were decorated beautifully for the special day. Makeshift tents were erected at many places. Labbipet in the city was abuzz with activity.Arrangements have also been made by different Muslim Organisations to conduct mass prayers at Zymkhana Grounds, PWD Grounds, Gandhiji High School, Chittinagar Eidgah.
