It is reported that he had allegedly reported to the district collector on the unbearable burden of collecting hefty sums from people every month and hence he sought help from the top official. For this misdemeanor, has been sent to VR. Even though the senior police officials denied the charges of the police officer and the media reports too finally declaring them as ‘fabricated’.
Yet, the Sub-Inspector informed that he had met the District Collector along with the tahsildar as part of constituency level meet on curbing illegal sand mining in the region during a press conference.
The interesting episode came to fore when Jaganmohan Rao had reportedly met the district collector 20 days ago and submitted his representation to the Collector on his agony. But, the Collector informed to the top police officials. The thought-provoking issue was collecting hefty amount to the tune of Rs. one crore has been a burden to him every month and asked to suggest a way out.
Senior police officials immediately shifted him to the Vacancy Reserve on the grounds of various charges and the issue had subsided. But, it came to light when some sources from the police department leaked it to the media that the sub-inspector had placed the issue before the District Collector for necessary support for controlling incessant corruption in the department.
In fact, Sullurpet is a major centre which comes before Integrated Check Post at Bheemunivaripalem in Tada mandal and the truck traffic of sand and illegal goods was rampant on the national highway. Around 300 trucks that carry sand illegally cross the borders every day and it has become a duty of the police personnel to ‘check’ these traffic.
The Sub-Inspector who was Station House Officer of the station for last 6 months and has been freshly relieved from there 20 days ago. But, the additional SP B Sarat Babu, who interacted with the media persons, informed that the charges of sub-inspector meeting the district collector were baseless as the SI disclosed that had neither met the district collector nor had revealed anything to the media in this regard.
Still, he said, they have been conducting enquiry on the episode and would take necessary action against the responsible.
He categorically stated that the police officer was shifted to VR only on some allegations levelled against him at police station level. Police officials recorded statement from the sub-inspector on the entire episode.
Still, the district collector R Mutyala Raju had not released any statement on the issue and has not been available to comment on the issue. State Government also reportedly asked report from the Guntur Range IG as it would degrade reputation of the district officials and also politicos.
