Boy missing as lovers attempt suicide
A young couple attempted suicide by jumping into Vasistha Godavari river at Chinchinada village in Yalamanchili mandal of West Godavari district on Monday. The boy first jumped into the river and the girl who was about to jump was rescued by locals.
Eluru: A young couple attempted suicide by jumping into Vasistha Godavari river at Chinchinada village in Yalamanchili mandal of West Godavari district on Monday. The boy first jumped into the river and the girl who was about to jump was rescued by locals.
According to police, Bonthu Nagababu (19) of Gaggiparru village in Yalamanchilli mandal was in love with with Leelasri (17). They were in love for over three years. Leelasri was living with her maternal grandmother in the village, while Nagababu was running an auto rickshaw.
The girl’s grandmother and relatives rejected their alliance, while Nagababu’s relatives and parents agreed for the marriage. The grandmother and relatives took Leelasri to Mattaparru village to avoid Nagababu. They started making arrangements for her engagement with another person.
Deject with the turn of events, the young couple in love, reached Chinchinada bridge and decided to commit suicide. Nagababu jumped into the river and Leelasri, who was about to jump was saved by locals. The police launched manhunt for Nagababu and until latest reports he was found missing.
