Vijayawada: Chief secretary Dinesh Kumar launched Facebook and Twitter accounts of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Thursday.

The chief secretary said bringing transparency and accountability has its impact on corruption. “Aadhaar has played a major role in taking on corruption. Students of mid-day meal were benefited. Neem coated fertilizers used in fields also saved Rs 20 crore to Rs 30 crore public money,” he added.

Stating that many things were happening because of technology, Dinesh Kumar informed that people have been making best use of Anti-Corruption Cell No 1100. “During the last one month, 40 bribe return cases happened and that was a good sign for fight against corruption. As far as ACB was concerned, it should dispose cases faster,” he felt.

ACB director general RP Thakur, in his remarks, said that faster growth was possible in a corruption-free society. He opined that every department should have a vigilance officer who helps in identifying corrupt officials. Income tax and CBI should also have better rapport with ACB to trap big fish. He announced that students to be involved in fighting against corruption.
