Eluru: West Godavari collector directed the medical and health officials to report the actual position on the malaria, dengue and other viral fevers that sparked the Agency and other areas of the district. He warned that action would be initiated if anyone tried to hide the facts.

Addressing the medical and health officials here on Friday, the collector said that it would have been possible to taken necessary action if actual reports were received or otherwise it would lead to incidents like Chaparai in which 16 people lost their lives in East Godavari Agency area.

He said that necessary facilities and funds to curb the mosquito menace and controlling malaria in the district are being taken. He instructed that if any report regarding malaria are received, the district malaria officials should reach the area within two hours of the information from the agency or other areas.

He said that first phase of spraying Malathion to control the mosquitoes was taken up in 266 Agency villages in the district. He directed the officials to take up the spraying of Malathion next week in the second phase and by September first week, the 3rd phase spraying also be taken up.

He directed the district malaria officials to depute one health worker to each habitat in the agency areas and provide them with the mobile phones. District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) K Koteswari, district coordinator of health sciences Dr K Shankar Rao and others participated in the meeting.
