Visakhapatnam: Additional Commissioner of office of Chief Commissioner of Central Tax and Customs G Shiril Saroj informed that as per Notification 02/2017-Central Tax, dated June 19, 2017, the Office of Chief Commissioner of Central Tax and Customs is proposed at Amaravati. At present, due to lack of physical infrastructure at Amaravati, it is working from Visakhapatnam.

The office is actively pursuing with the state government and Commissioner CRDA for obtaining land and for establishing physical infrastructure. Shifting of Chief Commissioner’s Office on ad hoc basis to either Guntur or to Vijayawada is not envisaged under the notification.

Any attempt of doing it in haste will result in wasteful expenditure on exchequer, thereby resulting in unnecessary wastage
of public money.
