Rajamahendravaram: BJP high command is reportedly initiating steps to appoint new party president, in place of existing state president and Visakhapatnam MP Kambhampati Hari Babu Meanwhile, the name of MLC Somu Veerraju came into limelight again as BJP high command named former Union minister Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu as its vice-president candidate.

The supporters of Somu Veerraju are saying that decks were cleared, as Venkaiah Naidu has been allegedly blocking the candidature of Veerraju. It was also alleged that Venkaiah Naidu prevented Veerraju to become state president as he used to criticise CM Naidu on various issues, which irked Venkaiah.

Some of his followers also opined that Venkaiah Naidu mounted pressure on the BJP high command not to make Veerraju as state president for the sake of Chandrababu Naidu. It was also alleged that the BJP is sailing with TDP in the state because of Venkaiah Naidu though many party leaders and cadre are opposing to continue alliance with ruling party.

Moreover, it is learnt the BJP high command is showing interest on Somu Veerraju who can face ruling party in AP and as BJP is trying to prove its stamina in the ensuing Assembly elections on its own.
