South Central Railway (SCR) teams are taking part in the on-going All India Railway Billiards, Snooker, 06 red and 09 ball Championship and bagged three gold medals and one silver medal in this tournament is being held at Vadodara in Gujarat.

According to SCR Vijayawada Division Chief Staff and Welfare Inspector for Sports N Arjuna Rao, South Central Railway teams won Snooker, 06 Red and 09 Ball Championship and stood in second place in Billiards. Vijayawada Division players Durga Prasad and Govindaraj Reddy participated in Billiards team event and Benny participated in 09 Ball Championship, he added.

the Snooker team Championship SCR team beat North Eastern Railway, Gorakpur by 2-1, he said. In 09 Ball team defeated Western Railway by 5-4 and emerged as champions for the 09 Ball, he said.

In 06 red championships SCR team beat Southern Railway, Chennai by 2-0 and lifted the All India Railway Championship, he added. Whereas in Billiards team championship SCR team lost to Central Railway, Mumbai and stood in second place, he said.

Interestingly, L Durga Prasad, Rajamahendravaram railway station’s Mechanical department helper, exhibited tremendous performance in all the four events in the team Championship and Arjuna Rao praised Durga Prasad. The other players Venkatesham, Simhachalam, Vijaya Kumar, Hemanth Kumar from Secunderabad and PG Benny and Govindaraj Reddy of Vijayawada showed their talent in the tournament, he explained.

In connection to this, Vijayawada Divisional Railway Managaer (DRM) R Dhanunjayalu, Additional DRM K Venugopala Rao, Senior Security Commissioner (RPF) and Divisional Sports Officer SR Gandhi and others congratulated the medal winning players over phone for their outstanding performance in the said championship.
