The project on completion will provide ONGC and the nation substantial relief for country’s growing energy needs and demands

Kakinada: The public-sector Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has taken up two developmental projects, onshore and offshore operations in the KG Basin area, namely Vashishta and S1 Development Project and KG DWN 98/2 development project.

According to ONGC sources, of the two Vashishta and S1 Development Project has been taken up with a capital investment of USD $751 million expecting a production gains of 5.95 MMSCMD. The onshore project terminal at Odalarevu will have gas availability by last quarter of 2017.

Through Vashishta and the S1 fields, other deep-water project of ONGC, an estimated 15.95 BCM of gas is expected to be released through 4 wells, connected through dual pipelines tied back to onshore terminal at Odalarevu in East Godavari limits.

As far as the second offshore project KG DWN 98/2 is concerned, the development project with a capital investment of USD 5 billion will have production gains to the extent of 16 MMSCMD gas and oil to an extent of 75000 BPD. Of the two, the first gas production will be done by June 2019 and first oil production is expected by March 2020.

ONGC’s flagship project from NELP block of KG DWN 98/2 in the deep water of eastern offshore which carries about 45 BCM of recoverable gas reserves is now being readied by Eastern Offshore Asset for fast track development and would start yielding oil and gas from mid-2019. KG-DWN-98/2 development has been approved by ONGC Board with an investment of Rs 34,012 crore.

ONGC expects to provide 16 MMSCMD of gas from 98/2 at the peak of its production cycle. Project would involve deployment of the latest technological innovations and would require surmounting challenges of depth, environment and the difficulty to handle physical attributes of the hydrocarbons produced from the reservoir. The project on completion will provide ONGC and the nation substantial relief for country’s growing energy needs and demands.

KG-DWN-98/2 proposed facilities Drilling of wells in total 34 (15 Oil Producers + 8 Free Gas Producer+ 11 Water Injectors). This offshore process platform will process and evacuation of 12.75 MMSCMD of gas living quarters(LQ) and utility platform with bridge connection. FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) will be taken up for processing well fluid and offloading of oil. Of the two oil processing units- 90,000 BOPD and gas processing – 3 MSCMD and the pipelines will be laid over a stretch of 425 km based on the requirements.
