Amaravati: The state tourism department will acquire land for the development of tourism projects in various parts of the state. A decision to this effect was taken on Friday at a meeting of state tourism department. District level officials were instructed to introduce new projects in the unutilised lands of the department.

The details of unused lands should be digitised by August 20. Addressing the officials, state tourism and cultural department secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena asked them to prepare an action plan for various projects to be introduced in the vacant lands.

The officials were also asked to assess the future requirement of lands for the department. He directed that steps should be taken to transfer lands from revenue to tourism department.

AP Tourism Development Corporation chairman and managing director Himanshu Shukla, special officer Murthy and several officials took part in the meeting.
