Accusing Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham of resorting to political gimmicks for personal benefits, Municipal administrative minister P Narayana questioned as to why he had forgotten about welfare of Kapu community during his tenure as minister for 10 years. He asserted that Padmanabham would not be allowed to take up padayatra without obtaining necessary permissions from the government.

He asserted that Padmanabham would not be allowed to take up padayatra without obtaining necessary permissions from the government.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Narayana said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was committed to the welfare of Kapus and introduced many welfare schemes for their development. He asked why Mudragada had not taken up any agitations when the YSRCP did not bother to discuss issues of Kapus or BCs during its recent plenary in Visakhapatnam.

To a query on cricket betting activity in the district, Narayana said the government would not spare anyone involved in the unlawful activity. He stressed that there was no political pressures or influence behind the release cricket bookie Krishna Singh.
He said the Chief Minister had directed the SP PHD Ramakrishna to investigate the case sincerely without sparing anyone. Narayana said there was significant development in Anganwadi and municipal schools with the new interventions. He noted admissions in schools managed by civic bodies rose by 15-20 per cent and some were even displaying no admissions boards.
He also said he would strive for rejuvenation of age-old VR College in city as a Nellorean. The minister also said majority population were migrating to urban and semi-urban areas and there had been stress on civic bodies to focus on providing basic amenities.
