ABVP rally foiled, 10 held
Tense scenes were the order of the day, as a scuffle ensued between students and police during ABVP’s ‘Chalo Collectorate’ rally, here on Monday.
Eluru: Tense scenes were the order of the day, as a scuffle ensued between students and police during ABVP’s ‘Chalo Collectorate’ rally, here on Monday.
ABVP took up the rally, demanding the government to solve the problems in aided educational institutions. The students staged a dharna by squatting on the road and later they attempted to barge into Collectorate.
A small altercation took place between students and police for nearly 20 minutes. However, police tried to stop the hundreds of students with the minimum personnel. Police have arrested 10 ABVP leaders Amchem Srikanth, Moinuddin, Vimjam Chennagopal,
Viswanathan, Sankabattula Uday Pavan Kumar and others and shifted them to the three-town police station.
Earlier, addressing at the gathering, the students demanded the government to construct a permanent building for Government Degree College in Eluru. They also demanded to withdraw the government’s decision to close schools and hostels in the name of low strength.
