Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress staged a protest and burnt the effigy of Union government at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Wednesday for withdrawing subsidies on cooking gas. Mahila Congress state president Sunkara Padmashree said the people would affect from the decision of Union government. Addressing the party activists, she demanded that the government rollback its decision and continue subsidy.

Addressing the party activists, she demanded that the government rollback its decision and continue subsidy.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretaries Meesala Rajeswara Rao, Naraharisetty Narasimha Rao criticised the BJP for implementing anti-people policies of the government. They said that the BJP government was misusing the power for political gain.

They stated the Congress legislators were being harassed by income tax department following the directions from BJP.
Congress leaders Kurshidaa, Prameela Gandhi, V Gurnatham, Anwar Hussain, D Hussain, D Babu Rao, V Ramesh and several leaders were also present.
