Man arrested for carrying gun in Tirumala

A man was arrest at the Alipiri check-post in Tirumala on Wednesday after a gun and 14 bullets were found in his car.

The accused, hailing from Pune was visiting the place in a Hyundai SUV and raised objection to the checking stating that they were family members of Pune Assistant Commissioner of Police.

But upon the officials pointed out the check was mandatory and not even higher officials get exemption, the checking took place and they discovered 14 bullets hidden beneath the driver's seat and a Walther pistol.

The accused claimed that the pistol belongs to a man named Vijay Mane and had a license.

Even though it is a licensed weapon, the security officers had to take possession of the weapon as per the protocol and the person was detained for questioning.
