Pithapuram: A devotee presented jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh to Goddess Purutimika of Sakti Peeth at Padagaya, pilgrimage centre, here on Saturday. A couple belonging to Gollaprolu, Anisetti Lakshmipapa and her spouse, donated pearl-studded ornament weighing 20.5 grams to the deity.

The couple gave the ornament to Executive Officer Chandaka Dorababu and Temple Trust Chairman Kondepudi Prakasa Rao. Training programme for farmers on natural farming Pithapuram: District Agriculture Project Manager Parthasarathy conducted a training programme for farmers on natural farming at Chebrolu here on Saturday.

As part of it, preparation of various decoctions was demonstrated. He explained the farmers on the ill-effects of applications of chemical fertilisers.

He told them that the benefits due to chemical fertilisers are temporary and it causes damage to soil fertility. Natural farming not only improves yield but also the soil fertility, he told the farmers.Earlier, the farmers took out a rally explaining significance of natural farming.

Agriculture department officials Padmasri, Sudha Madhuri, Gangadhar, Satyanarayana, Mandal Parishad Extension Officer Rajesh and others took part in the programme.
