Bhuvanagiri MP B Narsaiah Goud on Sunday alleged that the BJP government had been bulldozing the TRS government without considering its objections in the GST implementation.
Say the GST will impact the State’s flagship programmes like 2BHK and Mission Bhagiratha
Hyderabad: Bhuvanagiri MP B Narsaiah Goud on Sunday alleged that the BJP government had been bulldozing the TRS government without considering its objections in the GST implementation.
Highlights:
- Demand cancellation of 18 pc GST on irrigation projects
- Take a dig at NDA govt for ignoring State’s concerns
Addressing a press conference here along with MP B B Patil here at Telangana Bhavan, Goud said that the NDA government had assured to take into consideration the objections raised by the TRS government and also promised to sort out till the bill is passed. The two MPs demanded that the Centre cancel 18 per cent GST on the irrigation projects in Telangana.
“The GST would have big impact on the State government’s flagship programmes of 2BHK house and Mission Bhagiratha projects. These are not the projects of Ambanis and Adanis… these are essential for people. We strongly condemn the move of the Centre on the projects,” said Goud.
Narsaiah Goud said that Prime Minister should reconsider this decision on the larger interests of people. He alleged that the Union government was taking decisions against the State interests. Goud said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already urged the Centre in this regard and now was making efforts to get support and coordination of other chief ministers against the GST.
“It is highly unbecoming for the Central Government, which has taken a decision to heap loss on working class people of Beedi, granite, textile industries and the projects.
The TRS MPs criticised the Centre for failing to address the concerns of the State. “TRS had extended support to the Centre on all aspects during the last three years. The party has pledged support for the uniform tax regime as it would liberalise the tax system and bring down prices and taxes.
The Centre has levied a heavy burden on the irrigation projects much to the chagrin of the youngest state,” said Goud. He said that the Centre failed to respond to various requests of the TRS government like sanction of AIIMS, Bayyaram steel plant, irrigation projects and increasing the Assembly constituencies.
He said that the government would mount pressure on Centre and take support of other States on GST. Keeping in view the larger interests of public and farmers, the Centre should repeal the decision and do justice, he said.
