Achieve 15% growth rate, 80% people’s satisfaction, says AP CM

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted District Collectors and other officials to strive to improve the public satisfaction level over functioning of the State government and exhibit good performance which is vital in keeping public opinion in favour of the government.

Chandrababu Naidu also said more focus should be given to welfare programmes as it would not be possible to satisfy people with mere development.

Addressing the 13th District Collectors conference in Vijayawada on Wednesday, the Chief Minister set target to officials to achieve 15 per cent growth rate and 80 per cent satisfaction level from the present 58 per cent among people in the next two years.

“I am Chief Minister and also a political party president. We have to seek mandate of people for every five years. We could come again into power if only we exhibit good performance. I want your full cooperation in improving public satisfaction in favour of the government. I request you to keep this in your mind and choose short, medium and long term targets to improve public satisfaction up to 80 per cent,” he said.

“Though there is decrease in grievances from people, we observed some dissatisfaction among public for various reasons. We should address this issue,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state achieved 11.72 growth rate against 5.6 per cent at all India level in the first quarter of 2017-18. He said that there should be sustainability with good governance and policies.

“Eight districts are at the level of below average income compared to the State average. Officials should put special focus over these districts. Economic inequalities will cause unrest in society,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for preparing panchayat level growth rate index to know the ground realities in villages and take decisions for welfare and development programmes to increase the satisfaction level among people.

Stating that the State government has achieved stability in agricultural sector by registering a growth of 27.60 in the first quarter of 2017-18, the Chief Minister said technology should be used in a big way in agricultural sector to achieve more growth rate.

He said that the State government is planning to develop horticulture in one crore acres against the present 40 lakh acres.

The Chief Minister said that smart water grids should be developed linking the water sources to come out of drought conditions.

Coming to industrial sector, the Chief Minister said that there was low growth rate in the sector. He pointed out that growth rate in industrial sector stands at 22 per cent and manufacturing sector 8.95 per cent. The Chief Minister said that under AP Fiber net programme, one lakh families would be provided with TV and telephone facility in the first week of October.

Referring to administration, the Chief Minister said biometric system should be made compulsory in all departments and e-offices should be developed. He said there is a need to restructure outdated departments and if necessary new departments should be created for effective implementation of development and welfare programmes.

Krishna district stood first in the district rating based on performance followed by West Godavari, Guntur and Vizianagaram during first quarter of 2017-18. Earlier, the Chief Minister launched People First – Citizen mobile application.
