Rajamahendravaram: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu advised the universities to maintain high standards in education and offer job-oriented courses for the benefit of students. He inaugurated NTR Convention Centre and Amenities Centre and laid foundation stones for Arts College building and Botanical Garden on the campus of Adikavi Nannaya University, along with Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday.

Later, addressing the students, he asked them to work hard to reach their goal and not to waste student life which will not return. The students should put in efforts to realise their dreams and aspirations of their parents. Every student should try to secure command over his favourite subject and try to achieve excellence to make a contribution to the society, he said.

Many great personalities came from a poor family and reached top positions due to their dedication and commitment, the Vice-President pointed out. “Education is not only for jobs and to get money, but to acquire knowledge and to know new things. Teaching fraternity should update their knowledge from time to time to give quality education to the students,” Venkaiah said. He underlined the need to respect mother tongue along with learning of other languages.

“Ours is young India, as 65 per cent of people are below 35 years. India will become a super power in the ensuing days, because of the steps being initiated by the Union government,” he said. India's ancient culture is still alive because of its greatness, whereas the culture in countries like Greece and Mesopotamia culture has vanished. Everybody should strive to protect Indian culture and traditions, he said.

Governor ESL Narasimhan advised Nannaya University management to organise blood donation camps to donate blood to Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) before December 31 and instructed them to admit all students in IRCS as members.
