More funds to Cancer Hospital soon, says Subbarami Reddy

Visakhapatnam: Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation in Rajya Sabha T Subbarami Reddy said that he was making efforts to get another Rs 400 crore funds for Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and expressed confidence in release of funds shortly. With the help of more funds, the 100-bed cancer hospital would be developed into 200-beds hospital, he added.

The Parliamentary committee visited various industries including Port, Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Sunday and Monday. After completion of their visit, addressing the media, Subbarami Reddy said Visakhapatnam Steel Plant by spending good amount on afforestation, checked pollution within the permissible limit.

During the visit of Visakhapatnam railway station, the committee directed the railway authorities to construct toilets on each platform. The committee also directed the authorities to develop Duvvada railway station into four platforms, Reddy said. The committee directed the Central and State Pollution Control Boards to review and examine the air pollution in the city, he added.

Earlier, the committee held a review meeting with various PSUs and several other government establishments. Speaking in the meeting, the committee members appreciated the PSUs, which have been sharing the massive plantation programme in the city. Out of the 40 lakh plantation programme, the district administration and PSUs planted 33 lakh saplings so far, the committee appreciated.
