Tadipatri: Police imposed Section 144 in the town on Friday to defuse tension between TDP and YSRCP workers over the location of a liquor shop. The problem started with the YSRCP workers staging a dharna right in front of Himagiri Bar and Restaurant which was owned by a TDP leader's brother.

The YSRCP under the leadership of Pedda Reddy, an aspirant for YSRCP ticket in Tadipatri constituency, staged a dharna in front of the bar demanding relocation as it is creating problems for women near Gandhi statue. As soon as the local TDP workers and followers of JC Prabhakar Reddy came to know of dharna, they too staged a counter demonstration against YSRCP as the bar had been functioning there for a long time.

Police reached the spot to prevent untoward incidents as tension gripped the town with both factions set to clash with each other. Police kept the YSRCP activists under house arrest and dispersed both the groups and confined them to their party offices. Police kept a vigil and posted additional security near the bar. Section 144 was imposed in the town to maintain law and order.
