Protesters held at Dharna Chowk

Vijayawada: The city police arrested the protesters when they tried to take out a rally from Dharna Chowk here on Wednesday. A group of protestors from Tundurru in West Godavari district gathered at the Dharna Chowk here on Wednesday to take out a rally as part of the ‘Chalo Assembly’ call given by the villagers of Tundurru who have been opposing the construction of Mega Aqua Food Park as it would lead to contamination of water polluting the air, thus damaging the environment.

Nearly 30 protesters gathered near the Dharna Chowk to take out a rally but police arrested them. Even though some women cops were present on duty at Dharna Chowk, some policemen dragged the women protesters and shifted them to a police station nearby.
