Visakhapatnam: With the number of elephant population has been increasing at various zoo parks across the country, the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has identified some of the zoo parks which have been spread in over 500 acres of lands to provide shelter to the jumbos.

Facing tough times to host the jumbo’s in small zoo parks, the CZA has taken an initiation to shift the elephants to the smaller zoo parks to spacious zoo parks. As a part of the decision, the CZA offered two female elephants (mother and child) to the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) which is spread in an extent of 625 acres. The IGZP is also having sufficient vacant land to provide shelter to the jumbo’s.

As a part of the move, the CZA lifted two elephants from Aurangabad Zoological Park on road to Visakhapatnam. After a three-day careful road journey, the elephants reached the IGZP on Wednesday. Already there are two Jumbo’s in IGZP one male and one female. With the arrival of the two new jumbos, the visitors of IGZP will have good times to witness four elephants at an enclosure.
