Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's Camp office in Amaravati witnessed a lot of tension on Thursday morning when people gathered to protest demanding the state government to pay compensation in the houses lost due to road widening.

One of the protestors even went on to attempt immolating himself but he was stopped by a policeman deployed at the outpost.

The widening of the Ibrahimpatnam-Mylavaram road was taken up three years ago with the outsees assured compensation by the government. However, they have not received any compensation to date. Even after Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao’s intervention in the matter, the process for releasing the amount has not taken place.

Now, the outsees are planning to stage a sit-in before the Chief Minister's residence until he resolves the issue.
