3-day jail for cockfight punters
A Civil Court has convicted 95 punters for three days jail and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the charges of betting on the cockfight. The police arrested 95 cockfight organisers and punters on the charges of betting on a cockfight, organising the cockfights in Nidadavole circle jurisdiction.

The police produced the accused in Junior Civil Court. Junior Civil Judge Y Srilakshmi after hearing the argument has awarded a three-day conviction to the 95 accused and imposed a fine of Rs 100 each.
Following the judgement, Nidadavole police immediately took the 95 people into their custody and shifted them to Tanuku, Tadepalligudem sub-jails in special vehicles.
They have been booked under Section 19(1)(2) of Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1978, police said. Nidadavole CI M Balakrishna took the accused to the court with the help of the Samisragudem, Chagallu Nidadavole town sub-inspectors.
