Fake VSU notification by websites creates confusion among students

But, in a typical manner, a website issued information about PhD and MPhil programmes of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) on mobile app and also on its website creating confusion among students. VSU officials, who were getting queries from the large number of students, have been saying they had not issued any notification.

Collegedunia is a popular website that provides education related information of various institutions across the country to the students. It gave some information on the PhD and MPhil programmes in the VSU for 2018 batches and the process starts from December 17 to Jan 31. But, the information is different on its website which changed from 2017 to 2018-19 batch giving chance for confusion.
Interestingly, there was a notification by the varsity in December 2014, research CET was conducted in 2015 and admitted students in 2016 due to various technical problems and requests by the students. Since then, no notification has been issued by the varsity officially.
With the publicity by the Collegedunia.com, students from various districts started contacting the varsity officials for the information and procedure to apply for the courses.
Further, the website also mentioned about the VSURECET-17 and the rank cards for applying the courses even though no such examination was conducted till now. Funny thing was it also indicated about part time PhD programmes besides regular courses. The similar information was carried by some other sites thinking that they would also get readership/viewership just giving link of the varsity without any other schedules.
“We were getting confused with the information being provided by these websites for some time and there was no action against them. When we contacted the varsity over phone they simply said they had not released any notification for research programmes for last the 3 years.
A scholar from the varsity said they were also getting enquiries from various places for more information. “We had joined the varsity for research work in 2016 and no notification has been issued till now after 2014.
These websites were giving false and distorted information to the students,” he added. A senior official denied such issuance of notification for admissions for research programmes.
