Tirupati: The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT), as part of smart city initiative, would be lunching CC Camera surveillance project. Through this project officials plan to closely monitor the civic problems for resolving them immediately.
All ready District Collector PS Pradyumana, who is the special officer of MCT, has instructed to the Commissioner Ch Harikiran to take up CC Cameras installation project.
Recently officials have conducted a survey to install the cameras at important locations in Tirupati.
The total Surveillance project will be required 2,500 cameras. Officials have taken decision to install 1,250 cameras in phase -1.
Main objectivity of the CC Camera project is to identify the civic problems like drinking water supply leakage, drainage stagnation, garbage clearance and other issues with the help of cameras.
Presently, people have to come to MCT office to solve civic problems, or they can complain over phone or whatsapp.
With the CC Camera Project, there will be no need for public to approach MCT for redressal minor civic problems.
MCT has planned this project with the concept of multi utility purpose, all the cameras to be inter linked with central command centre at MCT office.
Another advantage of the project is police can also use this CC Camera footage for solving their cases. It will be useful for clearing the traffic congestions in the city in busy hours.
The locations for installation of CC cameras in city were identified by the MCT officials. Srinivasam complex, Vishnu Nivasam area, opposite Railway station, Bus Station, Alipiri Junction, Nandi circle junction. Town Club, Krishnapuram Tana, Univeristy Raod, Balaji Colony Junction and some residential areas like new Balaji Colony, Karnala Street, Rayala Cheruvu Road, Municipal Main Market and Tuda Junction are identified for cameras installation.
The command control centre will work for round-the-clock in three shifts.
Municipal Commissioner Ch Harikiran has said that CC Cameras project will help for city development. ``With smart city funds, MCT will procure the advanced high resolution cameras. In future, we will enhance the number of CC Cameras for total coverage of the city.’’
