Amaravati: It is now official. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the unemployment allowance to the youths would be paid from next month.

The Chief Minister, in his inaugural address at the two-day Collectors’ conference which began at his residence at Undavalli here, said the unemployment allowance would be part of the several welfare programmes that are being rolled out for the benefit of various sections of people.

Naidu, however, did not elaborate on the unemployment allowance scheme. Recently, at a different context, Naidu had said that his government was considering paying Rs 1,000 as allowance to the unemployed youths.

They would be trained to make them eligible for jobs too, he had said. At the inaugural of the Collectors’ conference, the Chief Minister said that Anna Canteens too would be opened across the state on June 2, the fourth anniversary of the state bifurcation.

The Chief Minister appealed to the District Collectors and other officials to have regular interaction with citizens and they should go into the midst of the people to know the problems they are facing to go to people to know the problems being faced by them which helps in better administration and improve satisfaction levels among people.

“You have to continue Palle Nidra programme to get direct feedback from villagers” he suggested. He said that the state government would give top priority to welfare programmes, despite of lack of cooperation from Central government,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state government was according top priority to welfare and development programmes. He said the public distribution system and social security pensions should reach maximum number of beneficiaries.

Chandranna Bheema, Chandranna Pellikanuka and 75 units of free power supply to SC and ST communities are the flagship schemes of the government which help in increasing satisfaction levels among the public. Besides, Sankaranti Kanuka, Ramzan Tofa, Christmas gifts have directly made the people happy.

He said that though AP stands as number one in economic growth for the past four years, the per capita income of the people has to go up on par with the neighboring states. “Though we achieved 34.4% growth rate in the agriculture sector, the growth in the industrial and service sectors had slowed down. We have to focus on these two sectors,” he said.

“Every house must have access to tap water and every family must earn at least Rs 10,000 per month. You have to take care that by March next year, all the 19- lakh houses should be completed. Drainage, roads and drinking water are our high priorities in both rural and urban areas” he said.
