Vijayawada: YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that a detailed study would be conducted on the demand for reducing Kolleru Lake from fifth contour to the third contour.

He interacted with the people of Kolleru area at Perikagudem near Mudinepalli in Krishna district on Wednesday. On the occasion, they said that nearly 7,500 acres land was taken by the government in the past.

They requested YS Jagan to pursue the issue positively as thousands of families would be affected. YS Jagan reacted positively and assured them that the lands would be given back to local farmers, if he is voted to power in the next elections.

He said that he would enhance old-age pensions from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. He also announced that he would pay Rs one lakh for each newly wedded couple.
