The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a proposal to release 49 life convicts on the merit of their good behaviour. After careful examination of the conduct of all the prisoners, the Department of Home submitted proposals to the Cabinet for their release. The government will release their details through the Home Department in due course of time.

Another decision taken at the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, was to provide red gram to public through Public Distribution System at Rs 40 kg. The I&PR Minister said that the cabinet approved a new AP Electric Mobility Policy, under which subsidy will be provided for manufacturing units in the State.

The policy aims to improve manufacturing sector’s performance in the State. A proposal to take up projects worth Rs 12,600 crore to create urban amenities was also approved by the cabinet. Srinivasulu said that 32 hereditary employees at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam were regularised.

Cabinet also approved the proposal of AP Road Development Corporation to raise a loan of Rs 1,000 crore loan for which the State government would stand as a guarantor. In another decision, the cabinet cleared a proposal for Irrigation Department to create 24 supernumerary posts and recruitment.

Conceding the long pending demand of revenue employees, the cabinet approved promotion of 392 Junior Assistants in the Revenue Department to Senior Assistants. The cabinet approved Amaravati Development Corporation to get power of attorney from CRDA to develop startups in Amaravati in an area of 6.48 Sq Km.

The other decisions included clearance for setting up of 203 Anna Canteens at a cost of Rs 80 crore, where one could get breakfast, lunch and dinner at Rs 15, the cabinet exempted e-autos, e-carts and e-rickshaws from payment of life tax.
