Tirupati: Sri Padmavati Mahila Visva Vidyalayam (SPMVV) and the Lincoln University College, Malaysia, on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities and promote cooperation in academic, education and research.

The CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Lincoln University College, Malaysia Dr Amiya Bhaumik and the Registrar of SPMVV Prof DM Mamatha exchanged the MoU in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor Prof V Durga Bhavani.

The areas of collaboration tentatively identified are engineering, nursing, food and nutrition.

There are plans for student and faculty exchange programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhaumik said it was a major step towards fostering ties with universities for exchange programmes and the speedy action plan will be worked out for the quick implementation of the MoU which will benefit in enhancing eligibility criteria and to access job market with added advantage.

Prof V Durga Bhavani said that this understanding document focuses on cooperation in joint projects and development projects, exchange of students for their PhD programmes, introduction of dual/twinning courses and exchange of expertise among faculty members at both the universities.

The Executive Vice-Chairman of Swacha Andhra Mission, AP government Dr CL Venkat Rao told that the MoU will motivate post-doctoral fellows for research work.

The Dean of International Relations Prof D Sarada said that it would provide opportunities for teachers and researchers to utilise libraries, other facilities in the laboratories of the two universities and facilitate publication of collaborative research in areas of mutual interest.

Rector Prof V Uma, CEO of Hyderabad Institute of Overseas Studies Ramesh Pathi, Director of Engineering College Prof Ramakrishna Rao, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof M Vijayalakshmi and Associate Dean of International Relations Prof T Tripura Sundari were present.
