Speaking at the meeting, Collector directed the agriculture officials to take steps to enable the farmers to plant the seed beds, as the water to irrigation channels would be released from June 1.

He said that if the Khariff crop delayed, it will affect the Rabi crop following the water shortage. In view of this, the officials should keep ready the farmers to take up early Khariff from June first week itself.

If anyone obstructed the water flow in the canals, the administration would not tolerate. During the Khariff season, even the construction of bridges under delta modernization programme would be stopped and there would be no problem to the farmers in getting sufficient water.

The Collector said that Rs 50 crore had been allotted in the annual credit plan to sanction loans to fishermen community in the district with 50 percent subsidy.

He expressed his dissatisfaction over the delay of fish landing centre at Biyyaputippa village in Narsapur mandal to be taken up with a cost of Rs 20 crore.
