Visakhapatnam: Science in the country is on the move in a big way and the government initiated multibillion-dollar investments to kick-start research, education and innovation, said Principal of GITAM Institute of Science Prof K Arunalakshmi.

Interacting with parents and students at GITAM University here on Saturday, she said that in a bid to fill the new positions, the government has launched programmes to court Indians working abroad back to their home country.
The GITAM Institute of Science is emphasising on education and research in the basic and emerging areas of science, Arunalakshmi said.
The institute faculty completed 27 research projects and 49 ongoing projects are in progress funded by UGC, DST, DAE, DBT, MoEF, ICMR and DRDO and have excellent training in advanced research laboratories in USA, France, Israel, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Taiwan, and Portugal.
She said that the institute has research partnered with prestigious national organisations like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, ICRISAT and International Universities like the State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY-B) and University of Glasgow to facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes.
GITAM Institute of Science is offering innovative BSc degree programmes from 2018 academic year along with PG programmes.
