Chittoor: The TDP government is not yet ready to finalise the modalities in remitting the allowance for the unemployed educated youth even after four years of its promise. Though a hectic exercise was made at higher level, the Government has decided to remit Rs.1000 per month as unemployment allowance to the graduates and diploma holders.

In Chittoor district, as per the information from the district employment exchange, 11,235 degree holders, 4387 B.Eds, and 8,000 diploma holders are eligible for getting unemployment allowance . It is learnt that Government has decided to sanction unemployment allowance to only 5,000 candidates in Chittoor district during 2018-19 . As a result, two third eligible candidates are likely to forego the opportunity of getting unemployment allowance, sources say.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, District Employment Officer K Mani said that 71,692 candidates have registered their names in the exchange and are awaiting for employment opportunities for the past several years. `` Most of the candidates got seniority ranging from 15 to 20 years and waiting for jobs. If seniority is taken as criteria, above 30,000 candidates would get eligibility for unemployment allowance,’’ he said.

He said that the government has not sought any information from the District Employment Exchange so far in this regard. He said that state government has its own plans to select the eligible candidates under Unemployment Allowance scheme. Asked to comment over the government’s policy, a spokes-person of the ruling TDP admitted that Janmaboomi committee would play a key role in the entire exercise of selection of the eligible candidates .
