Ongole: Prakasam District Joint Collector S Nagalakshmi ordered the officials to identify the beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by July 6.

She conducted a meeting on the status of the housing scheme and sanitation in the urban areas of the district in her chamber on Tuesday.

Nagalakshmi said that the towns Ongole, Kandukur, Addanki, Markapuram, Giddalur, Chirala and Kanigiri were allocated 3,957 houses in the first phase under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Housing for All scheme and 23,792 houses in the third phase.

As the beneficiaries under this scheme were not yet finalised, she suggested the officials to meet the local MLAs and finalise the list by July 6.

She said that the construction of houses under the first phase was already started at Ongole and Kandukur and asked the concerned to take necessary action to complete them as soon as possible.

She said that 10.2 acres of land was allotted in Markapur, 15.50 acres at Addanki, 15 acres at Gddalur, 9.50 acres at Kanigiri and ordered the officials to start the works immediately.

She announced that 150 acres of land was identified in Ongole for the construction of 14,656 houses under third phase and waiting for the release of Rs 50 crore from the government.

She ordered the officials to identify 15 acres of land at Chirala for construction of 2,200 houses.

The municipal commissioners from Ongole, Chirala, Kandukur, Addanki, Markapuram, Giddalur, Chimakurthy, S Venkata Krishna, Fazululla, Anusha, Narayanarao, Ravindra, Krishna Murthy, Srinivasulu respectively, Ongole Tahsildar Chiranjeevi, APTIDCO DEE Sudhakara Rao and others also participated in the meeting.
