Amaravati: Government aims to create awareness among farmers in the state on the best sowing period for the ensuing Agriculture year. The State government has key information on ``Best Sowing Period” for various types of crops for 6,403 villages.
During a teleconference on the Neeru-Pragathi on Tuesday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to create awareness among farmers on the best sowing period to enhance the production levels and to get quality produce. Chief Minister suggested the farmers to sow the seeds at an appropriate time.
Chandrababu Naidu said that, every farmer in the state should be aware on, ``When to sow the seeds and when to plant them”. Government has collected scientific information based on the soil nature at local areas, he said. The Neeru-Pragathi programme has been helping in harvesting rain water in the state. All ponds in the state are filled with water, due to the efforts of state government for the past four years.
There should not be any lapses in implementing the MGNREGA works, he stated. State government was able to spend more than Rs 2,500 crore within first three months during the ongoing financial year. In addition to that, another Rs 1,600 crore funds have to be utilised in a proper manner.
The material component funds under the MGNREGA to a tune of Rs 1,100 crore are available with state government. Farm ponds, horticulture pitting and other works must be undertaken as soon as possible with the available funds, he said.
