Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad directed the Andhra Pradesh government and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer to submit complete details about digging of inner Potu or kitchen in the temple. It also directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to explain why it sent a letter seeking to place TTD and its temples in protected monuments list.

The division bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi gave these direction on Tuesday while hearing a PIL petition filed by Anil Kumar Borrugadda alleging that the intention behind digging the kitchen was to explore ancient treasure buried underneath.

Andhra Pradesh Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas submitted that no digging, as alleged by the petitioner, was undertaken and it was only a few necessary repairs that were made in the kitchen, after taking advice from aagama advisors. The bench granted three weeks time to file a counter affidavit.
