Madanapalle: Prof William Oakes, Director, Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) programme of Purdue University, USA, along with Kantha Reddy, Director, Operations, IUCEE-India, and Nagababu of AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), on Tuesday visited the Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science (MITS) here.
MITS is recognised as one of the ten institutes in the State for EPICS to be incorporated in their academic curricula. EPICS is a programme of Purdue University in partnership with Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE). Prof Oakes suggested collaboration of faculty and students to solve community-related problems using innovative technologies in engineering education. This is the prime focus of the programme, he said.
Such programmes will enable students to gain hands-on-experience to solve a community’s real-time problems. He appreciated the MITS faculty and students for their efforts in mobilising intellectual interventions and the academic initiatives taken by the management to make EPICS, a grand success in MITS. MITS Vice-Principal Dr G Hampamma praised the APSSDC initiatives in imparting quality in engineering education.
