Kurnool: When you don’t have a business in hand and still want a handful of earnings without toiling, then better plan is a hospital business. Nowadays, the private hospital business is proving to be very lucrative and it is also not a great risky too.
It is no exaggeration to say that running a hospital is as easy as running a grocery shop. Anyone apart from the qualified doctor can run a hospital. You need no special qualification and no experience is needed.
All you need is money, besides having enough understanding about hiring doctors as consultants. And the most important thing is that you should be having good relations with the Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) as they are the ones, who can make your hospital busy round-the-clock flooding with patients.
In recent times, two such hospitals in Yemmiganur town that were run by unqualified were raided by the officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement department. Even, a hospital in Kurnool headquarters was also seized. Most of the hospitals situated near the new bus station and at Kallur are running without renewing their licences.
It is learnt that several doctors are renting out their certificates if good amount is paid to them. On the submission of a rented doctor’s certificate at the District Medical and Health Office, you will be issued a temporary hospital licence which is valid for a period of six months. Most of the private hospitals in Kurnool district are run by these persons, who replace original doctors.
People from the real estate are mostly involved in hospital business. The RMPs play a vital role in enhancing the business of the private hospitals. Around 250 private hospitals, 120 clinics and 30 diagnostic centres were registered across the district. Around 65 per cent hospitals are operating their businesses from the district headquarters.
These hospitals are said to be engaging doctors from Ayurvedic, Unani and Homeopathy fields, violating the Allopathic Private Medical Care Establishments Act 2002. In addition to the private hospitals, many scanning and diagnostic centres are also said to be operating without licences. Besides, scanning centres were not following the norms laid down by the government.
Out of these 60 scanning centres, a few organisers of these centres were known to have approached the court while others are operating secretly by managing the officials of the DMHO. An official within the department, said, on condition of anonymity, that most of the scanning centres don’t have the form “F” as it was compulsory in which all the details would be furnished pertaining to the patient. The source also revealed that no proper register was being maintained in the District Medical and Health Office for PCPNDT cases.
