Tirupati: To resolve the issues like Special Category Status (SCS), all political parties cutting across party lines should come together and have a debate, said Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar.
In fact, after bifurcation of State, the then Congress government in Karnataka and AIADMK government led by J Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu have strongly opposed the idea of giving SCS to AP, he said. On the sidelines of his visit to Tirupati on Saturday, Vinod Kumar interacted with the media and said that after P Chidambaram’s statement regarding formation of Telangana State in December 2009, there was a wide opinion that AP will have to lose several national institutes, which were located in Hyderabad.
In view of this, during the course of several debates, he strongly advocated establishing several institutes in the residual State of AP. They were of the view that AP should not be subjected to any injustice. In Parliament also, the TRS supported several demands from AP and similarly all the parties in AP should fight unitedly for the people of AP and not for their own political mileage, he said.
There should be a clear cut agenda on what the State needed and what they should get from the Centre and all parties should fight for the fulfillment of that agenda.
In Telangana also, many bifurcation assurances were not fulfilled so far like Bayyaram steel factory, Coach factory in Kazipet though some other demands have been met. Instead of blaming each other, all should fight for a common cause to get all assurances fulfilled, he explained. During his visit, MP Vinod Kumar visited children’s hospital located in SVRR Government General Hospital in Tirupati along with former MP Chinta Mohan who was instrumental in getting the hospital sanctioned with Central government funds.
They both went around the hospital to see several wards and facilities. Vinod Kumar felt that though several hospitals have children’s wing a separate children’s hospital with Central funds was a good idea and felt that every district should have one such hospital which will be very useful. Chinta Mohan praised the doctors at the children’s hospital stating that they were extending good services to the needy. Hospital RMO Dr U Srihari, HOD Dr P Ravi Kumar and other doctors were present. The two leaders also visited Institute of Pregnant Women.
