Heart surgery performed successfully on 90-yr-old
A 90 year old patient Kamalamma underwent heart surgery successfully at Andhra Hospitals here, said cardiologist Srimannarayana here on Sunday
Vijayawada: A 90-year-old patient Kamalamma underwent heart surgery successfully at Andhra Hospitals here, said cardiologist Srimannarayana here on Sunday.
Dr Srimannarayana said that the patient from Tenali was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state. He said that the patient suddenly fell unconscious on the floor and went into a coma a few days back.
He said that the doctors of the hospital examined and conducted all investigations and arrived at a conclusion that the patient was missing electrical signals of the heart which was a natural pacemaker.
He said that the situation was explained to the patient’s attendants that she was suffering from Sick Sinus Syndrome and said that an artificial pacemaker should be fixed to Kamalamma.
The doctor said that operation was done successfully. The doctors also made it clear that there will be no heart complaint for another 10 years.
Dr Srimannaryana shared his experience that when the patient is not having any complications of other organs, then age is not the criteria to do such type of procedures.
